QuakerSteak

Quaker Steak & Lube is a chain restaurant that started in the seventies as an effort to preserve the look and feel of old style gas stations and muscle cars. They do this so diligently by having old hot rods lifted above the dining room along with Harleys spinning from the ceiling. But the only way to enjoy these pleasures is to get inside. This proved rather difficult for me seeing how Quaker Steak & Lube restaurants are sprinkled around the country and hadn’t made it’s way to New Jersey….yet. So you can imagine my excitement when word hit the street that one was opening up (read more…)

FirstNTen

I was driving down 295 when I started to get a little rumbling in my belly, and seeing how it was about lunch time, I figured that I would find a place to grab some wings. It just so happens that I was in the Hamilton/Trenton area, and I remember getting a “Suggest a Joint” from Ted who told me that I needed to stop in and grab the wings at First N’ Ten Sports Pub because they are the best. What better chance to feed my craving and check out a local hot spot all at the same time.

For the past month or so, my brother-in-law has been trying to coordinate a trip with me to JoJo’s Tavern located in Hamilton, NJ. So I head into Hamilton, park the car and walk into this small and friendly place. As I take my seat at the bar and (read more…)

WaltStreetPub

Wandering the streets of Red Bank, hometown to Kevin Smith and the Clerks empire, I came across a nice corner bar that claimed to have “the best wings in town.” Seeing how it was right around lunchtime, I popped in to see if Red Bank can do to wings what it has done for comedic screenwriters.

The Walt Street Pub has plenty of space inside and out, but I chose to sit at the bar because they had The Chew on one of the TVs (which I thought was cool because maybe it shows that they ARE that into good food and the way of the culinary arts… or maybe it was just by chance, but I’d (read more…)

Court Jester

courtjester

I received a “Suggest a Joint” request from Cindy who claims that the wings at the Court Jester are sensational. There are two locations: one in Freehold and the other in Aberdeen. Though the food is supposed to be the same at both locations, we chose Aberdeen because we were told that it had more table seating. Also since this is in my old man’s neck of the woods, I decided to take this opportunity to invite him out to eat with us so he can get some good grand kid time in while we tested out the wings.

I entered into this saloon with high expectations as Cindy is a very reputable source for good food. We sat at a large booth, sipped on our Monster Mugs of beer (read more…)
