The Greene Turtle

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

While traveling for work, which I normally do, I found myself in Westminster with an insatiable appetite for wings. As I asked many locals where I could go to appease that appetite, I kept getting the following response: Buffalo Wild Wings. Now I have had Buffalo Wild Wings before on numerous occasions and they’re great, but I’m always on the lookout for something new in different areas. So when I insisted for an alternative, only one name rang out: The Greene Turtle.

The Greene Turtle is a small chain of restaurants that spread across Maryland and into Delaware. It offers a large bar (read more…)

Robert’s Place

Monday, March 19th, 2012

While I was out on a job in Egg Harbor Township, one of the guys there threw me a “dude, you gotta try Robert’s in Margate.” But it wasn’t until I was back in the Philly area that I heard the same thing. This made more of an impact on me due to the fact that it was now a more widespread source for this one little place on the Jersey shore, and if they know about it an hour away in Philly, it must be worth checking out. Rest assured, the next time I was in the Atlantic City area, I made it a point to stop by and give their wings (read more…)

Rode’s Fireside

Monday, March 12th, 2012

Though my taste buds are acute, my eyesight is crap. And during my last eye exam, I came to find out that my doctor is a wing enthusiast as well, so we start talking wings…  how to eat them, where to go, how hot we like them, the normal chatter. He tells me that if I am ever in the Swedesboro area that I need to swing into a little place known as Rode’s Fireside and try their Buffalo wings out for size. This sounded (read more…)

The Shannon Rose

Sunday, March 11th, 2012

The Shannon Rose is a small group of Irish pubs that are spread across Northern Jersey and celebrate my heritage proudly with Celtic music and plenty of beverage. I’ve been to their Woodbridge location before on several occasions, mostly for steak dinners or Easter Brunch, but never sat down to measure up their wings. So when the opportunity came up to head into the original Shannon Rose in Clifton with some friends, I decided it would be a great time to give the wings a go.

They come in two variations, so I ordered up the classic Buffalo (read more…)

Peanut Bar

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

It isn’t too often that I end up in Reading, PA, so when I found out that’s where work was taking me, I took this opportunity to see who had some great wings for me to try out. In my quest, I found a place called Jimmie Kramer’s Peanut Bar which has appeared on the Travel Channel and also has received multiple awards for having the Best Wings in Berks County. Sounds like my cup of tea, so I got my nut cracker and headed on in to this historic establishment.

The first thing that I noticed as I walked in the door were the peanut shells all over the ground. It seems that this place is known for patrons tossing the complimentary peanut shells on the bar floor. Not only is the shell litter expected, it’s actually encouraged, so I ordered a beer and began making a mess to honor this tradition.

The feel of the bar was reminiscent of an old school soda shop (read more…)
