Rookies Sports Club

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Though I may have been born and raised in New Jersey, my family originated in Long Island (pronounced with a hard “G”). Whether it be for work, or visiting relatives, or both, I find myself up that way quite a bit. So, it was just a matter of time before I found myself on one of these trips and craving some wings.

On my way home I took a detour into a little bar called Rookies in Huntington, NY which is a sports club that was very (read more…)

The other day, I was talking to someone who was boasting about how great the wings were at Prospector’s in Mt. Laurel. Prospector’s is a Steakhouse/Saloon, and was not really the place I would think of to look for good wings. However, the whole reason I started this site was to find great wings in the least likely of places. LongHorn Steakhouse, for example, had KILLER boneless buffalo wings until they removed them from the menu (and I’m still not completely over that one yet). So when I (read more…)

Charlie’s Bar

When you create a site about Buffalo wings, people from all over do not hesitate to let you in on their favorite spot to find the best wings. After a “Suggest a Joint” request from Ashley and a personal recommendation from Walt, a colleague of mine, I felt that this place may have something to offer. But being that they are located in Somers Point, which is a nice hour drive for me, it makes it a little tough to just swing on in. However, luck would have it that I happened to be doing work near that area, so Walt and some friends invited me to tag along to try the wings out for myself.

Now normally in this situation I like to stay incognito (read more…)

Thunderbird Steak House

I received another “Suggest a Joint” the other day to stop into a little dive in Broomall, PA called Thunderbird Steak House. According to Joseph, who sent the request, the Original Thunderbird ranks within his top 5 wing places primarily due to the flavor of the wings. So I made the trip to see what kind of flavor these things pack.

Right off of West Chester Pike is this little pizzeria-sized eatery which you can easily spot by its green, antiquated storefront. The place looks old and with good reason – it is.  They opened their doors in 1956, and have been dishing out wings ever since. So I hopped on in (read more…)

Warwick Tavern

Monday, February 13th, 2012

Being a wing lover in South Jersey, I routinely come across people who tell me that if I want the best wings around I need to go to The Jug Handle Inn. Well I have been there, and I didn’t think they were that spectacular. However, the other week I received a “Suggest a Joint” request from Rick who said that the reason the wings at The Jug Handle Inn aren’t as good as they used to be is because the old owners sold it, left, and took the chef with them to a new place. That place… the Warwick Tavern in Somerdale. So I took Rick up on his suggestion and planned to visit what the locals call “The Wick.”

You could imagine my excitement when I found (read more…)
